Well its Prince Peppster here and today is Valentines day!
Today we are going to talk about the History of Valentines Day
Every feburary 14th girlfriends are showered with roses and chocolate all in the name of Saint Valentine. But very few of us actually know who Mr. Valentine really is! Infact, even officials barely know where this Saint Valentine came from.
According to the catholic church there has been about 3 people with the name "Saint Valentine"
thats just bloody ridiculous. Anyways, all of these Mr. Valentines died in the name of religion, generally making them a really awesome guy and potentially a saint.
According to the story, one of these Mr. Valentines was stuck in jail ( for being Christian ) while he was in love with a girl. So he sent the first "valentine" card. in this card it was signed "from your valentine". So this is where the romantic valentine-y setting comes into place.
Ever since Valentines has been celebrated in Canada, USA, Mexico, Brazil, Asia, Europe, and many other places. This tradition got really popular around the 17th and 18th century and has stuck to be a romantic day to spend with your one true love ever since.
In these modern days, it is said an approx amount of 1,000,000,000 cards are traded off each year during valentines day :) Talk about spreading the Love eh?
Happy Valentines Day
